Obituary of Lois M. Ryder

Lois M. Ryder, of Chautauqua Ave. in Jamestown, passed away Wednesday morning, June 21, 2023 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was the widow of Wallace H. Ryder, Sr., whom she married Oct. 18, 1947 and who died May 27, 2001. Lois was born in Jamestown Oct. 1, 1931, a daughter of the late Malcolm and Shirley Carlson Chambers. She was employed for 35 years by the former Manor Oak Skilled Nursing Facility, filling a variety of positions. In earlier years, she worked for T. James Clarke Box & Label Works in Jamestown. Lois had attended Calvary Baptist Church. She always looked forward to her daily visits with her many friends at the Lakewood Tim Horton's. Surviving are three children: Wallace H. Ryder, Jr. of Kennedy, Randall Ryder (Jane) of Jamestown, and Janet Ryder (Phil) of Mayville; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and three sisters, Florence, Sherry and Shelly. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Olson, and sister, Elaine Randall. Per Lois' wishes, no service or visitation will be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. A family celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701.
