My wife Mary Murphy and I were shocked and saddened when we learned of Mary Berndt's passing. We worked in the same building at the county office building complex in Mayville. We worked in different divisions and locations in the building, but saw her occasionally working at the Department of Social Services. We always found her to be polite, cheerful, and helpful. The photo of her accompanying this announcement perfectly captures her stylish appearance and delightful smile. When Mary retired as a county employee and assumed ownership of the GMA Market in Greenhurst, she had more opportunities to spend time with customers and proudly spoke of her precious daughter Lisa, her grandchildren, and son-in-law. She will be sadly missed by those who knew her.
