Obituary of Mary C. Berndt

Mary C. Berndt, 73, of 3029 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, died Wednesday September 20, 2023, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born February 5, 1950, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Richard and Joyce Wallin Peterson. Mary was a 1968 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Chautauqua County Social Services. She also owned and operated GML Market in Greenhurst. She enjoyed knitting, walking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving is a daughter Lisa (Aaron) Richner of Cassadaga; two grandchildren Noah and Maya Richner of Cassadaga and siblings William (Patricia) Peterson of Port St. Lucie, FL, Ann (Robert) McKane of Bemus Point and James (Sandi) Peterson of Merrimack, NH. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gary Berndt, whom she married July 19, 1969, and who died May 17, 2021. The funeral will be held at 6 pm Monday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received from 4-6 pm Monday. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton.
