I was a friend and neighbor of Matt and Jessica’s when they lived in Pasadena, CA. Matt was always Jovial, and always had a smile on his face. He Loved to Garden and I watched as he transformed his balcony to an Oasis and Sanctuary of beautiful flowering plants and trees. He had an amazing green thumb! He Loved to sit in peace surrounded by his creation of all the plants and flowers he nurtured and grew..
He was a very social person and Loved to be surrounded by his friends and Family, as much as his Garden.
He also Loved to barbecue and cook. He bought a fire pit and loved to entertain all his friends family and neighbors by the warmth of the crackling fire, up on his rooftop creation. We had many potluck dinners cookouts and many good times. Many of us were California Transplants and Far from home. We created a California Family there. I knew the world was right, when I would come home from work and smell the delicious aroma’s and a trail of wafting smoke emulating from Matt’s Balcony and see Matt at the Helm; barbecuing away…
with a spatula in one hand and a watering can in another. If he had a 3rd hand there would be a leash on it….As he Loved animals as much or more! as gardening and barbecuing. I would see him every morning and evening walking his beloved Dog Abby, who was his pride and joy.
These are the images and memories that come to my mind, as I think of Matt, a kind and caring person, who was so outgoing, Loved people, was the life of the party and someone that Loved animals, nature, and a good burger!
