Obituary of Matthew W. Winger

Matthew W. Winger, 45, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday October 12, 2023, at UPMC Hamot surrounded by his family. He was born November 1, 1977, in Jamestown, NY, a son of Gary and Gretchen Coryea Winger. Matt was a 1996 graduate of Jamestown High School and continued his education with a bachelor's degree in education at SUNY Fredonia. Matt will be remembered as a loving and caring son, who was truly a friend to all. He enjoyed being outdoors hiking, camping, gardening, and taking care of his dogs Abbey and George. Matt was a huge Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees fan. Besides his parents he is survived by his sister Kari (P.J.) Degnan; nephews Logan and Mason Degnan; his niece Halie (Eric) Krueger, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Lester and Mabel Coryea, Merle and Eleanor Wilson, and Samuel "Wayne" Winger. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 pm Saturday October 21, 2023, in the Lind Funeral Home.
