Obituary of Charles J. Spiesman
Charles "Chip" J. Spiesman, 83, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday December 6, 2023, at UPMC Hamot surrounded by his family.
He was born February 18, 1940, in Corry, PA, a son of the late Paul F. and Dorothy K. Spiesman.
Chip was a 1958 graduate of Corry High School.
After serving in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962, he was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mailman for 37 years until he retired in 1999.
Chip was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing year-round. He spent every summer with his family at the Loomis Bay cottage on the lake where you could always find him casting a line or kayaking. Chip was an animal lover who adored his beagles and labradors over the years and was a caretaker for "Liberty" the eagle at the Audubon Society for several years.
Surviving is his son Paul (Megan) Spiesman of Coventry, CT; daughter Shannon Spiesman of Amherst, NY; two granddaughters Katelyn and Juliana Spiesman and his sister Janelle Patterson of Corry, PA.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Hamilton Spiesman whom he married October 24, 1964, and who died November 16, 1997; two infant children Paul H. Spiesman and Matthew Spiesman; his brother Teddy Spiesman.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday December 11th in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and an hour prior to the service on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Burial will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Rd, Jamestown, NY 14701.
