Obituary of Evelyn Russell

Evelyn Russell, 99, of Jamestown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Thursday January 11, 2024. A lifelong area resident, she was born in Jamestown on July 6, 1924. Evelyn is survived by her four daughters: Jeane Sherman of Ashville, NY, Marilyn (Kenneth) Pratt of Cherry Creek, NY, Shirley Furrow, Flemington, NJ, Darlene (Richard) Tyktor, Glen Allen, VA, and her beloved grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great- great -grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Russell, whom she married July 9, 1940, and who died May 24, 1993; her son Clifford Russell and her sisters: June Babcock, Carol Richetti and Pat McGrath. Evelyn's legacy of prayer, love, kindness, and generosity greatly impacted her family, friends, neighbors and church family and often extended to individuals she had never met if she became aware of needs in their lives. She accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was 18 years old at the Jamestown Christian Missionary Alliance Church and she continued to love and appreciate her church family and her pastors for over 80 years. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Sinclairville, NY. No visitation or memorial service will be observed per her request. A celebration of Evelyn's life and legacy will be held graveside for the immediate family.
