That’s the Clare Berg I knew back in the mid-60’s! Mid-way dances in summer and the Naval Reserve in the winters (I was the 3rd wheel). Over the years Clare was the guy we all wished we could have married-such a true gentleman. Somehow Sonny got in the dance/date/cruising around things we did. As an adult, I got to meet “Pa.” What a small world. God bless your great family for you all touched many lives.

I am from Westfield and remember Clare from our entrance into the US Army in July 1965. In our barracks Clare had the top bunk and I the bottom. He was amazing when we had to take apart our M-14 and he had no trouble putting all the parts back together. He was very generous as he helped me when I got stuck. Can't remember what he got for a rifle range score but I am sure he was pretty good. At the end of our 8 weeks training we had to do a PT test and he should have charged admission to watch him go hand over hand on the overhead bars, his feet hardly swinging. Very strong and a great smile and laugh. What a shame this man is gone. He was so close and I didn't know it.

To the family of Clare Berg, I am so sorry for your loss. Clare was an important person in my career and I learned a great deal from him. I found his honesty and work ethic to be a constant reminder how life should be. From one veteran to another I say RIP, brother. You will be missed by all who knew, worked, and played with you.

To the Berg family, I worked with Harold and all of the boys at Falconer Glass for many years. A very kind, loving and great family. They always were willing to help. Clare had a sense of humor and a great smile . He will be sadly missed, no doubt. God be with you all and Bless you, I know you have wonderful memories to hold forever in your hearts. Sincerely Eve

To Clare’s family I’m so sorry for your loss. My family and his were neighbors growing up and spent many years with the “Berg” boys, Wayne, Clare, Sonny and Tim. My Dad used to take them and my brothers and me to the stock car races every Saturday night. We all helped Cliff Bender with his haying and the all went to the Stillwater Creek for a swim. I moved away several years ago but when I returned for visits we all tried to get together to reminisce about the past. He will be missed. rIP dear friend.

I remember hanging out riding the four wheeler blaine and I had for a while at the farm and the house. You showed me how to play hot hands for the first time and laughed at my reaction to it which I was shocked at how fast you moved your hands under mine. I also loved the lunches we would have with grandma, aunt berenice and uncle bill at Davidson's. Ill cherish the rest of the memories too we had. Im just going to miss you a ton grandpa! You were a great man and one of a kind. Im glad that Im part of that Berg bloodline truly!
