Obituary of Marla Jo Piazza Siegel
Marla Jo Piazza Siegel, 53, of Harrison, NY, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Goldens Bridge, NY.
She was born June 11, 1970, in Jamestown, a daughter of Warren Piazza and the late Dian Pisa Piazza.
She was a 1988 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School; graduated magna cum laude in 1993 from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in International Relations; and earned her Juris Doctorate from American University School of Law in 1996. She was employed by the Social Security Administration from 1998, first as an Assistant Regional Counsel and Special U.S. Attorney for the Office of General Counsel in New York, eventually working her way to become the Hearing Office Director in White Plains where she supervised an office of eight law judges and their support staff.
Marla was an uncommonly skilled manager, leader and mentor who always strove to better herself and others. She will be remembered for her irrepressible humor and quick wit, her indomitable will to succeed and a boundless sense of adventure. Marla was a treasured friend who was generous to a fault and who loved deeply; she is simply irreplaceable.
Surviving is her father, Warren Piazza, of Gerry, NY; husband Andrew Siegel and son Layne Siegel of Harrison; a sister Nichole (Gary) Segrue of Lakewood; two sisters Lisa (Mark) Humbert and Jeanne Piazza; and brother Al (Liz) Perone. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Drake, Sydney, Sophia, Rosemary, Jake, and Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dian.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 1st, at 10am at the Lind Funeral Home in Jamestown. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-7pm on Tuesday, April 30th at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to The Humane Society.
