I’m going to miss Uncle Russ. He was the life of every family get-together, the jokester, the story-teller, called everyone Pal, sang silly-tunes at Christmas (which I now do), was always there to help, Mr. Reliable, the family man, the guy who let me use his prized Mercedes at my prom (who gives the keys to a vintage Mercedes to a 17-year old kid…Uncle Russ, that’s who…without batting an eye). He loved his bride as he often called Aunt Ann…(and I now do the same for mine), he loved his children, he adored and lived for his grandchildren. I loved hearing stories about the old days…when Russ was young, about the family, about all that went on in Jamestown in its glory days…Russ could tell a story!! Always laughing until tears came as he reflected on what was…then he’d slap me on my knee and say, “that was then…now go live your life, nephew!” I can’t imagine a world without Uncle Russ in it.
My deepest condolences to Aunt Ann, Sam, Shelly, Steph, all the spouses, grandkids, and to Lucy, who undoubtedly met him as they passed each other on his way to heaven and her way to joining the family…
