Obituary of Russell W. Sardi

Russell W. "Honey" Sardi, 91 of Jamestown passed peacefully on Friday, May 10th, 2024 in UPMC Chautauqua, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Jamestown on October 10, 1932, a son of the late Samuel and Emmaline Morgan Sardi. Russ was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Jamestown Business College. He was also an Army veteran, serving from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War and receiving several service medals including a Bronze Star and Presidential Unit Citation. A resident of Jamestown his entire life, Russ retired from the United States Postal Service in 1999. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed attending all his grandchildren's functions. Russ is survived by his wife, Ann Paterniti Sardi whom he married November 17, 1956; three children, Sam (Elaine) Sardi, Shelly (Dave) Leathers, and Stephanie (Polly Lindberg) Sardi, all of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Eric (Alexa Vazquez) Leathers of Pittsburgh, PA, Alyssa (Michael) Chapman of Marysville, OH, and Steven and Jesse Sardi, both of Jamestown; and a great-granddaughter, Lucy Marie Chapman, born May 13th, 2024. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Sardi, and sister, Rosalie Tane. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25th in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Watkins will officiate. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W.
