Obituary of Albert L. Hitchcock II
Albert L. “Skip” Hitchcock II, 87, of Gerry, passed away Saturday June 1, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 16, 1936, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Albert L. and Pauline Hallquist Hitchcock.
Skip was a Falconer High School Graduate.
Before his retirement he worked with his father as a self-employed garbage disposal business, Ellington Hardwood Lumber Company as a truck driver, and most notably he and his wife were the owners and operators of A-N-K Trucking Company.
Skip enjoyed spending time with his family, building and racing go-karts, listening to country music and spending time with his Amish neighbors. He was a member of the National Army Guard for several years.
Surviving is his wife Kay Tolman Hitchcock, whom he married June 2, 1984 (a day shy of 40 years); his children: Michael Hitchcock, Jeanette Kent, David (Trish) Hitchcock, Jeff (Donna) Hitchcock, Carol (Larry) Barmore, Wendy (Al) Cobbe, Allen (Marlana) Hitchcock, Steven (Marlena) Hitchcock ; his stepchildren: Maxine (Ken) Brightman, Bonnie (Butch) Whitacre, daughter-in-law Dixie Chamberlin, Claude (Roberta) Chamberlin, Jim (Terry) Chamberlin, Randy (Karen) Thompson, Donna Jackson, Vickie (Roy) Holland, Brian Thompson and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Marguerite “Peg” Benson Hitchcock who died March 2, 1964; his children who passed away in 1963: Cindy Lou, Albert L. III, James B. Hitchcock; stepchildren Robert Chamberlin, Linda Turpin and Jeffrey Thompson; his brothers David and Rex Hitchcock; his sisters Beth Chandler, Ann Vine, Coralynn Johnson; two grandsons: Kenny Brightman, Corry Thompson; granddaughter Fallon Chamberlin and a great great grandson.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm Friday June 7, 2024, at the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received an hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm.
Burial will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
