Obituary of Joan O. Anderson

Joan Otten Anderson, 88, passed away June 5, 2024, at Star Hospice House in Lakewood, NY, surrounded by her family. Joan was a 1954 graduate of Southwestern Central High School. She then attended the University of Buffalo and the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1957. She worked at Buffalo General Hospital until her marriage to Gunnard Patrick Anderson. She later worked as a school nurse at Lincoln School in Jamestown until she retired in 1998. She is survived by her four children: Kelly Anderson, Kathy (Bill) Tucker, Susan Walsh, David (Tammy) Anderson and longtime partner Charles E. Jackson. Joan has seven grandchildren: Taylor and Alexandra Lesinski, Rob, Jon, and Kate Tucker, Jack Walsh, Gunnar Anderson, and one great grandchild Nathanael Tucker. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gunnard and an infant son born June 24, 1961. Joan's family would like to express their most heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care who supported and guided them through this journey with empathy and compassion. In keeping with Joan's wishes, there will be a private family service. No visitation will be observed. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice, 20 W.
